Going to the Chapel

I just read that the California Supreme Court is upholding its decision to offer marriage equality to all committed and loving couples in California, despite there being two initiatives on the November ballot. That means on June 17, gay and lesbian couples who wish the rights and reponsibilities of straight couples can finally be married!

I'd write more, but I'm dancing for joy!

Q & A, Part I: For Knowledge

A few Sundays back, we had a "Question Box" Sunday. This is when, instead of a sermon, I take questions from the congregation and offer (hopefully) clarifying answers. Unforntuately, I cannot get through all the questions in the service, so I'll be answering those I didn't get to here.

Mixed-Up, Messy & Mystifying

With technology the way it is today, there are many, many
ways to communicate with another person. In spite of choices among the tools to
communicate is anything really being said when we do communicate? And
alternatively if something meaningful is put out there, is it being heard?

Worth & Dignity

"If we really want (but all depends on really wanting) to learn how to forgive, perhaps we had better start with something easier than the Gestapo. One might start with forgiving one's husband or wife, or parents or children ... for something they have done or said in the last week." C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

We affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

Deep Green

It's not easy being Green, but it's so very necessary today.

We know that human civilization today has had a serious impact on the planet. It seems every month more and more data comes in about melting ice caps, severe weather, and other climate changes. We know that it's affecting flora and fauna worldwide. We know that these changes are influencing our societies and global culture.

It's Coming! It's Coming!

This week we go live with our new website, and it is thrilling! So many people have been hard at work conceptualizing, developing, administrating, training, writing, and at times guessing how best to craft a site which represents our community. Thank you Brian, Karen, Grace, Steve, Dave, James, Dennis, Sandy, Kim, John, and Eileen. Your interest and enthusiaism have made this project a joy to work on and an absolute thrill to see come live.

Thank you

Where's the River?

"In our correspondence with friends from Riverside the literature was very attractive, even going to the extent of a newspaper cut of a steamer plowing its way up the Santa Ana river, a vision we never saw materialized. Our first sight of the river was when we crossed it in a buggy, the water scarcely wetting the wheels."

The Autobiography of Rev. G.H. Deere, 1908
