Santa Cruz AIDs Walk

This walk is put on by the Santa Cruz AIDS Project and UCSC's SHOP (Student Health Outreach Program), both of which offer either low cost or free, private HIV tests.

The walk was 10K long and we walked down the coast for almost the entire way. The minimum donation to earn a shirt was $100 and I raised this much. I'm wearing the shirt in the last photo but it's hard to tell. The walk consisted of a lot of UCSC students. For a Biology class entitled "The Biology of AIDS", the AIDS walk was a required part of the class. There were also multiple fraternities and sororities walking as groups, and they all raised a lot of money.

I learned about this walk from a poster on a store window downtown and instantly knew I had to participate. I asked the girls on my floor and we decided to walk as a team named B/G Bananaslugs. The B/G is the name of the building we live in on campus, and the bananaslug is the amazing mascot of UCSC.

Thanks! Love you!!
